The Witches' Tale
Life can throw some wicked curveballs, and for me, it came in the form of breast cancer at the young age of 28. Seriously, though! After a couple of lumpectomies and some radiation, I kicked cancers ass and emerged victorious.
Little did I know, the battle wasn't over just yet.
Cancer can be a real witch sometimes and in 2017, I received the news that the breast cancer returned & I tested positive for the BRCA gene mutation. I opted for a double mastectomy, a series of surgeries, and enough chemotherapy to make a witch's cauldron jealous. Throughout my journey, my daughter was a senior in high school and getting ready for college. We navigated cancer, graduation and heading off to college that year.
The BRCA diagnosis led to a full hysterectomy in the subsequent years. Yes, I went all in and bid farewell to a few more body parts. Waking up in the intense grasp of full-blown menopause was overwhelming. Without any medical solutions, I set sail on an adventure of natural remedies and lifestyle transformations.
Cancer may have tried to cast its dark spell on me, but I refused to let it define me. I fought back with all the strength and determination of a seasoned witch. Bidding farewell to harmful toxins, I embarked on a mission for a cleaner life, growing a wellness garden, leaning into plants & their essential oils. I reveled in the magic of plants and their healing powers, took a leaf out of their book and ditched fake fragrances.
